I missed Christmas and New Year's. This is the first time in my life that I didn't get to spend the holidays with my family all because of a nasty flu bug. After 3 weeks, I'm finally starting to feel better, but the cough is never-ending.
We went the whole month of December with mild temperatures and without a single snowflake and then as soon as the kids are to go back to school, the weather changes. At least the 3 snow days last week gave me more time to get over this bug.
A feral cat had a litter of 5 kittens under our deck. In early December, the kittens became much more active and bravely ventured out into the yard, up on the deck and pretty much into everything. The Momma Cat is small, solid black, very
The colors of the male Cardinal are vibrant, but the subtle colors of the female Cardinal are stunning! I enjoy sitting by the woodstove and watching the birds.
I finished these two ornaments as gifts for my MIL and SIL. These are my adaptation of Just Nan's Cardinal Tweet design.
Have a great week!
I'm so sorry you were sick over the holidays. Hopefully the cough will go away soon. The Cross stitched birds are lovely; I'm sure the recipients will be thrilled.
ReplyDeleteHope the cough goes away. Darling birds ornaments. And what an interesting squirrel. You know I have bird envy! Neat woodpecker and oh, the cardinals!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are doing better. We missed Christmas and are still coughing but are generally doing pretty well. I love all the amazing birds in your garden. We miss the cardinals, none in the Pacific NW. I don't know why. Maybe they couldn't make it over all the mountains.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures of the birds, particularly the cardinals. We don't have cardinals over here and I have never seen one in real life. But I like stitching them.
Two great ornaments!
Hope you are feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteGreat bird pics, and cute bird ornaments.
They will love them.

Your first paragraph could have been written by me. Exactly.
ReplyDeleteThose two ornaments are fantastic.
What on earth are you going to do with 6 multiplying cats?!?
What a fun post! I so enjoy watching birds & hearing about others who do as well. Your photos are gorgeous! I hope the kitties who have taken up residence will leave them alone! Your cross stitched cardinals are very pretty. I'm sure your MIL & SIL loved them : )
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful bird pictures you shared! Hope the Mama cat and kitties will share the backyard space and play nice. The bird ornaments you created are adorable! Hope you continue to be on the mend from the flu.

PS Love the snowmen in your header!
Ugh! The flu--I am hoping it stays away from this house!! So sorry you got so sick, but it sounds like you are finally on the mend... What a shame it happened over the holidays, though!
ReplyDeleteLove the birds--both real and stitched :)
Take good care now, Pam!
What cute little birdie stitches! I'm sure the recipients loved them--they are well made! I am really enjoying watching the birds this winter too... What is the black headed one? I had one also, and am guessing it is a Dark-eyed Junco? I am new to birding so... Hoping you have gotten rid of the sickness for good, and are on your way to a full recovery! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel 100% soon! Love your bird pictures - I have the same birds hanging around my feeder. The cardinals are beautiful but mean and noisy!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are feeling better! I enjoyed seeing your backyard critters. I have bird feeders in my back yard too, and I really enjoy seeing all the different kinds that come.
ReplyDeleteYour ornaments are darling!

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are feeling better. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! I adore cardinals, even the females. I wish I had more of them around my feeders.
Hopefully, that lingering cough will be gone soon! Lovely birdie pics. And cute birdie finishes to match. :) I have the cardinal one in my stash-to-do pile.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures and the stitching! I was just thinking last week how I actually prefer the female Cardinal's coloring over the male. I like the hidden energy in the more subtle colors.
