SUNSHINE AND FLOWERS

Got ya with that title, didn't I?

There hasn't been much sunshine around here and definitely no flowers -- yet.  I still have high hopes that spring will be showing up eventually.

Do you think Taco is joining the petition for a new groundhog?

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Finally!

I'm just starting to feel better.  That bug really knocked me down!

Thanks so much for all the get well wishes.  It's wonderful to have such great friends!

Hopefully, I'll be able to show some stitching next week.

My sister has been having some medical issues that, as yet, have not been figured out.  She is having alot of pain and undergone so many tests already.  She will be having a colonoscopy and endoscopy the end of March.  It was also discovered that she has fibroids that will require a hysterectomy in a few weeks.  However, the fibroids are not what is causing the pain, so the pain must be dealt with first.

We believe in the power of prayer and if you could keep my sister in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean so much.

My sister shared this with me and I liked it so much I wanted to share it with you as well.

Shirley & Marcy

A mother was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school. He didn't want his mother to walk with him. She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence but yet know that he was safe.

So she had an idea of how to handle it. She asked a neighbor if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance, so he probably wouldn't notice her. She said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well,
so she agreed.

The next school day, the neighbor and her little girl set out following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbor girl he knew. She did this for the whole week.

As the two kids walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, Timmy's little friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every day all week. Finally she said to Timmy, 'Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week? Do you know her?'

Timmy nonchalantly replied, 'Yeah, I know who she is.'

The little girl said, 'Well, who is she?'

'That's just Shirley Goodnest, 'Timmy replied,
'and her daughter Marcy.'

'Shirley Goodnest? Who is she and why is she following us?

'Well,' Timmy explained, 'every night my Mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers, 'cuz she worries about me so much. And in the Psalm, it says, ' Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the days of my life', so I guess I'll just have to get used to it!'

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace.
May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you
today and always.

I know you smiled!

I sure did.

Pass this on and brighten someone's day!

Please pray that Shirley Goodnest & Marcy go with everyone you love!!!

I Know...

I said to come back later in the week for a stitchy update,
but it's going to be a bit longer.

For the past 4 days,
these two have stayed by my side.

A

N-A-S-T-Y

illness has taken me down!

I won't share the icky details, but there is no image that is
ugly
enough to describe this bad bug.

I'm feeling a little better after a visit to the doctor
and ER for some hydration.

For now, it's back to bed for me.
I hope to be back on my feet soon.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A WEEK MAKES!

Last Tuesday we had a SNOW DAY

and today it looks like SPRING!

This is what happens when the Mayor plows snow.  That's gravel from shoulder of my street.  The distance from the edge of the street to the other side of the sidewalk is 20 feet.  He had plowed a huge 4 foot high pile of snow across our sidewalk and left it there for us to shovel.
Gee, how nice of him.
Maybe he did it just to prove village employees don't get plowed out in a snowstorm.

BIRD WATCHING THROUGH DIRTY WINDOWS

I know Cardinals like to eat corn...

but I didn't know they eat snow too!
I watched this Cardinal actually eat snow
right off the tree branch.

I love how the Cardinals just seem to stop
and pose for the camera!

I've been hearing them but not seeing them...

On Sunday, I finally spotted my first
Robin of the season!
They don't stay still long enough to get a good picture, lol.

I SPY

something high up in the sky!
I've no idea what kind of huge bird this is.

While bird watching, I happened to see some green pushing up through the dirt...

the Resurrection Lilies are coming up!

TAKE TIME TO ENJOY THE SEASON CHANGE

(Stop back later in the week for a stitchy update)

SNOW DAY!!!

Despite my dislike for winter,
I find the sculptures created by
softly falling snow
BEAUTIFUL!

Oh, too bad it's not a snow day for everyone.

All the schools are closed, businesses are closed
and I'm spending the day
shoveling, stitching,
shoveling some more, stitching some more,
shoveling again, more stitching...
You get the idea!

I hope you can enjoy some beauty in your day.
Be Safe!

Best Intentions

I had every intention of posting last week, but a severe migraine intervened.  It's better now, but still not gone.  I'm being very careful about what I do so I don't get it kicked up again.

DD came home for the weekend and we were able to spend some very enjoyable time together.  Her photography is starting to take off and she has 4 weddings booked between now and the end of May.  She also has some baby, senior, engagement and maternity sessions booked.  Last fall she had a maternity session with a client who has now called DD back to take newborn, 3 month and 6 month photos of the baby.

Have you noticed that my pics are looking a little better recently?  My daughter helped me pick out a new camera and when a really good sale price was found, I couldn't pass it up.

The new camera we chose is a Canon Powershot SX 40 HS.  It has way more features than I know what to do with, but so far I've been happy with it.  It has a 35X optical zoom that I love.

I managed a couple small finishes before the migraine got so bad.

 We've enjoyed watching these two.

They are never too far away from each other.

I finally captured a couple pics of the elusive Bluejay visiting my backyard.
