I'm Totally Obsessed

with this:

Mini Bow Tie blocks by Patchwork *Pink Caramel*

Actually, everything pictured on Sakae's blog is eye candy to me!  Check out her blog here.

Seriously, I love the colors, designs and who can resist *Pink Caramel*?

I so need to learn how to make this Bow Tie block!

Happy Monday!

(It just drives me crazy that Blogger puts extra spaces anywhere it wants,
like all that space under the second photo)

Eagle Watching

Hubby and I decided to take a drive last Sunday since the sun was shining and the roads had been cleared after our 6 inches of snow Saturday night.

We found ourselves headed west towards the Mississippi River to watch the eagles.

Many others had the same idea.

These are some serious photographers and I felt quite out of place with my
digital camera, lol.  Most all those people had big cameras with huge lenses.

You will never find me perching on icy, snow covered rocks at the water's edge in February to get a photo!  If you click to enlarge this pic, you can see a man sitting on those rocks.

Hubby and I have never seen so many eagles or been that close to them before.  We really enjoyed just watching them.  Hubby kept saying he couldn't believe how big they are!

We headed back to the car and saw these eagles in the trees just above us.

We didn't know the one on the left had a fish until we got home and
uploaded the pics to the computer.

Despite the cold, it was great to get out of the house and enjoy watching the eagles.

Even though we had 18 inches of snow between Saturday and Monday, we've seen a few signs of spring this week.  Three different friends said they saw robins and the local ice cream shop opened for the season.  I can finally see the concrete of my front porch and sidewalk as well as some grass at the edge of the sidewalk.  Our heavy rain and thunderstorms on Thursday caused some major flooding.  The standing water froze over during the night Thursday and caused very dangerous driving conditions Friday morning.

Can you believe we'll be changing our clocks for Daylight Savings Time in two weeks?  Now if we could just get the weather to cooperate and give us some warmer, sunny days instead of bitter cold and more snow returning this week.

Have a great Sunday!

Too Much

I am pretty sure Mother Nature and Old Man Winter are mad at me.  As you've heard, much of the midwest has been having seriously cold temperatures, alot of snow and strong winds.  Well, I noticed that my neighbors didn't have as much drifted snow and piles in their yards compared to mine, so I drove around the neighborhood.  No other house anywhere in my neighborhood or town, for that matter, has the huge snow drifts and piles like I do.

These drifts and snow piles are over 4 feet deep.

This is where the snow is not as deep.  See those twigs sticking out of the snow?  That's a 3 foot tall bush.  I sure hope it can handle the weight of the snow.

All this shoveling has really aggravated my Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and I'm again suffering with severe pain and numbness in my neck, shoulders, arms and hands.

This is in my back yard.  That huge drift is at least 5 feet deep!
Dottie Dog doesn't know she can walk across this drift right over the fence and out of her backyard.

This is the first winter that Dottie has had snow deeper than she is tall.
We had to shovel a path for her and to get to the firewood.

We've had a few days of sunshine, but super cold temps.
This morning it was -22F with a windchill of -35.
The forecast is for warmer temps and more snow.

I WON A COUPLE GIVEAWAYS!

This comes from Barb over at Wicked Stitcher.  She finished stitching this and decided to offer the chart as a giveaway.  Thanks Barb!

I also just found out I won By The Bay Needleart's Winter Giveaway.

My youngest DD took this late last week.  I love that you can see the stars!

Whatever the weather is in your area, be safe!

Community

Hot Tub
in my backyard!

I received a birdbath heater for Christmas.  You can't see it, but there was steam rolling up from the water in the birdbath.
All the sparrows decided to take a dip! LOL
