Ehh...Blah, Blah, Blah

That's how I feel these days.  It's what I call the "end of year blahs" because the fiscal year is ending, billions lots of reports to be done and submitted, last year's books closed and the new year's books opened, internal audits to be finalized, outside auditors coming to begin their audit process and the list goes on and on and on.  Each year it seems like there is more and more to be done in less time.  Oh, and of course, there has to be a major board meeting thrown in smack-dab in the middle of everything!

OUUUUUCH!

Before Memorial Day, when Hubby came home with the news that his hours were being cut, I got up the next morning with a severely stiff neck.  I must have slept in an awkward position and my neck was very stiff and sore.  Anyone else noticing the connection between my stiff, sore neck and stress?

Here we are the middle of June and my stiff, sore neck is, well, still stiff and sore!  Went to have a therapeutic massage but it barely helped.  Went to see my chiropractor but it only helped for a couple of hours.  Went back for more therapeutic massage and even though she really worked the knots out, I am still really stiff and sore.  She said my coracobrachialis muscle was really knotted up and that muscle can cause pain in the shoulder, neck and arm.  I had to look up "coracobrachialis muscle" because I've never heard of it, let alone know where it's located.  I'm so fed up with feeling pain somewhere every day!

Tie-Dyed Threads

I've been teaching a small group of young ladies from my church how to cross stitch and embroider.  I started out with 3 girls and my group has now grown to 15 girls aged 8 to 14!  One of the youngest girls brought in a package of Prism Tie-Dyed Floss to share with the whole group.

Who can resist tie-dyed floss?  So I used this floss with bright, vibrant colors to teach the girls one more way to use floss in a design.  Each girl picked one skein of bright, variegated floss and we went through many designs to find something suitable for each one to stitch with these fun colors.

My design selection stitched with red, white & blue tie-dyed (variegated) floss.

It is stitched on a light red evenweave and blanket stitched to red felt.  I'm pleased with how it turned out and will place it on my refrigerator for some 4th of July color in my kitchen.

Until next time,
Happy Stitchin!

  1. You sure are feeling a lot of stress... with Y/E and hubby's job. I can relate... Are you at liberty to say who does your audit?

Very cool floss, and cute design. Congrats on your finish.

  2. Sorry to hear about your stiff neck. Have you tried sitting with a heating pad wrapped around your neck? May take a couple of days...

    Love the patriotic stitching!

  4. That is so awesome that you are teaching a group of young one how to stitch!!! We tried it in Girl Scouts but they were not interested - but that is how I got hooked on cross stitching!!

I can relate with the neck/back/arm pain!! I got this pain in my right shoulder blade area in the muscle and boy does it hurt!! It's also in the same area I had the shingles and my back feels like someone is poking me with hot fire at times.

  6. Pam, Are you drinking plenty of water? If you are not getting enough water, you will continue to be stiff and sore even after a massage. That tie dyed floss is really pretty.
